Vestolit is an active member of Vinyl Plus. Our plant in Marl, Germany, governs its production under the initiative’s key principles and challenges.
Created in 2011, VinylPlus® is the renewed ten-year voluntary commitment to the sustainable development of the European PVC industry. The Vinyl Plus program has been developed through an open dialogue with stakeholders, including industry, NGOs, government, the society and PVC consumers.
Vinyl Plus seeks to contribute and promote solutions for the 5 key challenges identified for the PVC industry:
Challenge 1 – Controlled cycle management: Achieve maximum efficiency in the use and control of PVC throughout its life cycle.
Challenge 2 – Organochlorine emissions: Ensure that persistent organic compounds do not accumulate in the nature.
Retro 3 – Sustainable use of additives: Review the use of additives in PVC, moving towards more sustainable additive systems
Challenge 4 – Sustainable uses of energy and raw materials: Minimize the impact on climate by reducing the consumption of energy and raw materials and working to switch to renewable sources.
Challenge 5 – Sustainability awareness: Promote awareness of PVC sustainability throughout the value chain, including stakeholders from within and outside the PVC sector.
